Freethinkers?

Is there such a thing as a freethinker?

If we analyze the situation, in reality there is none. We are influenced one way or another by what we hear. Whatever we hear, read, or see can either confuse and entangle us more and more in materialistic life, or it could liberate us. In a similar manner, what we speak also has an influence on others.
Practically speaking, everyone in the society has the position to influence others, and ironically everyone is also influenced.

So there's really no way we could live in this world without hearing from others, without accepting someone as authority, so it comes down to the question of who should I hear from? Everyone is saying something different, our parents, our religion, our psychiatrist, the media, and so on; everyone is saying something else.

In this light, we must be more thoughtful; we have to analyze the character and person whom we are hearing from. And when everyone is saying something different, we must make greater effort to seek the truth.

Just a thought, isn't it ironic and even hypocritical that those who call themselves freethinkers tend to think alike?
